Planting

I spent a little time planting some pots today with impatiens and spikes.  I also picked up a real nice poinsettia.  It seems odd to be able to set it outside and not have it die.  One of my planter pots will hold a tomato plant.  We can't wait until we can have fresh tomatoes!

The Armadillo

Today, I was taking down all of Riverbend's Fall/Thanksgiving decorations.  We have several buildings that were decorated, the Riverbend Clubhouse, the Welcome Center and the Pool Clubhouse.  While running around in the golf cart from one location to another, I ran across my first sighting of an armadillo.  I've seen several dead ones on the side of the  road but not any "live".

They are so ugly that they're pretty cute!  A neighbor said that this one hangs around quite a bit.  Their dog likes to play with it.   Christmas decorations will be put up by several of us this coming Saturday.

Pre-Veterans Day Golf Cart Parade (cont.)

Just to clarify, the golf cart that I drove and decorated belongs to the Riverbend Resort and they are letting me use it for the season since I'm helping with the Activities.  It's a "Limo" golf cart!  Here's more pictures of the parade carts and parade participants.

Several golf carts and participants joined the parade en-route to the River Clubhouse.  Saturday will be the weekly Saturday Morning Breakfast put on by The Breakfast Boys and then in the afternoon will  be the Early Arrival Burger Bash poolside.  I'm going to have to swim several laps and ride my bike more so that I don't gain weight this winter!

Early Veterans Day Parade

We're getting ready for the Riverbend Motorcoach Resort Veteran's Day Golf Cart Parade.  It'll go throughout the entire Resort and end up at the Riverbend Club House with a pizza party.  We're expecting 122 people and only about 1/3 rd of the residents are here.  Should be lots of fun!

Riverbend Motorcoach Resort

We've been at our newest location for about 10 days now and we are really liking it here in LaBelle, FL.  We have a beautiful site, we're liking our jobs and the people have been wonderful.  I've already been involved in several activities, as Assistant Activities Director, such as decorating for the Halloween Party, lunches every Monday-Friday, Pot Luck on Mondays, an appetizer Wednesday, and Roger grilled chicken last Wednesday for 66 people and decorating for Thanksgiving.  Decorating involves decorating several areas; the Riverbend Club House bar, library and dining area and the Welcome Center.

Roger's job as maintenance man is every Saturday and Sunday for now and when the Resort gets busier, he'll also work on Monday.  Our days off will be Thursday's and Friday's.

As you can see, our Halloween Party was a lot of fun with many of the owners/members dressing up.  Since we've been here we went to a Citrus farm and picked our own red and yellow navel oranges and tangerines.

And we've been to Venice Beach picking shells, walking hand in hand along the beach and in the warm waters of the Gulf.  It just doesn't get better than this!
