Riverbend Railroad

The Riverbend Railroad Club is quite a group.  They put on one of the most wonderful railroad displayed I've ever seen.  They should be proud of all the work they've done in presenting their railroad.

It takes  these railroad club members 2 hours to set up their display every Saturday.

Caroling at Riverbend

We had a wonderful time caroling throughout the resort.  About 30 golf carts, 1 walker with her puppy and 1 pickup truck full of family participated in singing at six different stops within the resort.  We ended at the railroad and went into the Riverbend Clubhouse for cookies and music.  Sure puts a person "in the spirit".

Decorations at Riverbend Clubhouse

Today, a group of us decorated different areas of the Riverbend Motorcoach Resort.  The Nature Center; the Pool Clubhouse; the Welcome Center and the Riverbend Clubhouse, Bar and Library.  Thanks go out to everyone who helped transform these buildings.

Planting

I spent a little time planting some pots today with impatiens and spikes.  I also picked up a real nice poinsettia.  It seems odd to be able to set it outside and not have it die.  One of my planter pots will hold a tomato plant.  We can't wait until we can have fresh tomatoes!

The Armadillo

Today, I was taking down all of Riverbend's Fall/Thanksgiving decorations.  We have several buildings that were decorated, the Riverbend Clubhouse, the Welcome Center and the Pool Clubhouse.  While running around in the golf cart from one location to another, I ran across my first sighting of an armadillo.  I've seen several dead ones on the side of the  road but not any "live".

They are so ugly that they're pretty cute!  A neighbor said that this one hangs around quite a bit.  Their dog likes to play with it.   Christmas decorations will be put up by several of us this coming Saturday.

Pre-Veterans Day Golf Cart Parade (cont.)

Just to clarify, the golf cart that I drove and decorated belongs to the Riverbend Resort and they are letting me use it for the season since I'm helping with the Activities.  It's a "Limo" golf cart!  Here's more pictures of the parade carts and parade participants.

Several golf carts and participants joined the parade en-route to the River Clubhouse.  Saturday will be the weekly Saturday Morning Breakfast put on by The Breakfast Boys and then in the afternoon will  be the Early Arrival Burger Bash poolside.  I'm going to have to swim several laps and ride my bike more so that I don't gain weight this winter!
