Our First Day Out

We left the Northwest Minneapolis KOA (Maple Grove) at 7:30 this morning.  We drove all the way to Dickinson, North Dakota; just a little over 500 miles, arriving at 4:30 pm (Mountain Time).  We wanted to get as far through North Dakota as possible.  Nothing against North Dakota but it's not the most beautiful state in the Union.  Until we crossed the Missouri River, the scenery was pretty boring.  Once we crossed the river, the scenery got better and better.  We saw many butte's and over each hill the landscape was more and more beautiful.

North RV Park is only 35 miles from Theodore Roosevelt National Park, which is where we plan to start our day tomorrow.  We had a great dinner at Sandford's Grub & Pub which I thought was a "local" establishment.  Come to find out, it's a restaurant chain.  Oh well, a nice nights sleep and away we go!!!

End Of Our Adventure In Bemidji

We left Bemidji KOA this morning for the Twin Cities.  Our workkamping friends Bob & Linda made a great going away breakfast for us and Justin, Carissa, Barbara, and Richard joined us.  Our friends, Ann and Peter were able to arrive at the KOA last night to say good-bye to us before we left.  We met them earlier in the season and have been communicating via Facebook since.  Did I mention that they're from "just across the pond"?  It was sad to say "goodbye" to all of them, but exciting to be on our way to a new adventure.

We will spend one night at the Northwest Minneapolis KOA in Maple Grove.  We spent a wonderful afternoon and early evening with our daughter Lindsay and her husband Tom; Brody the little guy Lindsay babysits on Monday's; Erin, Brody's mom and our good friend Terry.  We had a great fire and cooked some hot dogs over the fire.  Brody and Erin loved their first hot dogs ever cooked over the fire.

Tomorrow morning we'll leave to bring the motor home to Brambilla's in Shakopee to have some minor warranty work done.  We plan to spend a couple of nights at friends of ours in Brooklyn Park.  Hopefully, we'll get our car back from getting the transmission fixed.  It's been 3 weeks now!

New Start In Life

On May 10th 2010 we left the Twin Cities of Minneapolis & St. Paul to start our new life.  We both have wanted to travel our whole lives and when we met - it was a match made in heaven.  We decided to sell everything we own and travel around the US and Canada in our motor home.  In December of 2009 we purchased a Fleetwood Excursion Diesel Pusher with a full wall slide, a kitchen slide, and a slideout in the bedroom.  We wanted enough room in our motor home so that we wouldn't be crowded.  This is our home and we wanted the total feel of it to become our home easily.

We have spent the summer Workkamping at the Bemidji KOA.  It has been quite a bit of fun even though we have to go to the Twin Cities every other week to help out the new owner of Rogers' business.  The best part is that we still get to make some travel excursions on our days off or just lay around the pool here at the KOA.  We've had the opportunity to travel much of Northwestern Minnesota, which is one part of the state that we haven't seen much of in the past.

We also spent a few days in Kenora Canada.  If you get an opportunity to go Kenora, do it!  It's a beautiful area and wonderful people.  We've met many wonderful people here at the campground too.  We've already become friends with many who've visited and have gotten quite a few suggestions from them regarding where to travel or work.  It's been fun to visit with everyone whether it's for a day, weekend or many weeks.

I will continue to post our whereabouts as we travel!
