Harju Chili Feed

It was a cool 58 degree day yesterday and Roger decided to cook come of his famous Harju chili over an open fire.  Who would've guessed that we'd be eating chili on July 11th, only in Alaska!

4th of July at Cantwell RV Park

Like everyone else, we celebrated the 4th of July here at the Cantwell RV Park.  Eileen (the parks co-owner) decorated the picnic area and many campers brought a dish to share.  Jim & Eileen furnished the hot dogs, hamburgers and all the fixings.  Marilyn, one of the other Workkampers, coordinated a couple of fun games for everyone to play.  As always, there was a whole lot of food, great conversation around the bon fire and lots of laughs.  Jim and Eileen put on a very fun day, thanks!

Palmer Alaska and Denali National Park Tour

After our drive down the Denali Highway we went on the Richardson Highway over to the Glen Highway.  Without knowing it, we saw some of the most beautiful scenery and glaciers that I've ever seen.

At the Palmer-Wasilla short cut we thought that we'd stop at the Palmer Musk Ox Farm.  This farm is a not for profit farm that is trying to domesticate the Musk Ox.

The next morning we went to Mile 49 out of Wasilla on the Parks Highway to visit my cousin Denny Teal.  I haven't seen her in close to 35 years.  We had a wonderful visit, she made me laugh and I cried when we had to leave.  I have always put her on a pedestal.  After all of these years as far as I'm concerned; she hasn't fallen off.  Just before we had to leave, her 2 daughters and their families stopped by to meet us and visit with Denny before they had to leave for their homes.  We plan to get together again soon with Denny, I can't wait.

What beauties!  Oh, I was talking about the flowers :)
and then back toward Cantwell on the Parks Highway. On the way, we stopped at the Denali State Park South Viewpoint.  What a view of that enormous mountain.  It seems that I just can't get enough of seeing it.
