I can't believe that it's been almost one month since I last placed a post to our blog. We've been really busy at the Riverbend Motorcoach Resort activities. Every Monday we have Pot Luck and then Bingo, Tuesday's are water aerobics for Sue at the pool and then the Tuesday night movie at the clubhouse. Wednesday night is bar food night where Sue cooks for anywhere from 130-160 people. The food usually consists of hamburgers, chicken, Italian subs or hot dogs and all the fixings. Thursday and Friday are our days off. Saturday starts of with breakfast at the River Clubhouse prepared by the Riverbend Breakfast Boys, railroad display by the Riverbend Railroad Club and usually ending with a "big" activity Saturday evening. Sunday's we hold an Interdenominational church service at the Riverbend Clubhouse where Sue sings in the "choir" and relaxation and reading the Sunday paper in the afternoon.
The "big" entertainment that we've had during the past month consists of:
Jan. 7th: Latitude - a Jimmy Buffet type group that consists of a husband & wife who also played 50's, 60's, &70's music.
Jan 13th: The Cattleman's Dinner - A 16 oz. rib eye steak grilled on a 15' charcoal grill, served with your choice of sweet or Idaho potato, corn on the cob, roll and lettuce salad. The Hendry County Cattleman's Association cooks all the beef and the local 4H'ers help serve. Local entertainment supplied the music.
Jan 22nd: Bill Michael - a Gospel music, funny man, and storyteller.
Jan 23rd: Pot Roast Dinner with entertainment by The Marlins - The Marlins are a national group consisting of 4 brothers who play 50's and 60's music along with a tribute to Elvis and the Beatles. What a great dance band!
Jan 28th: Spaghetti Dinner with entertainer Billy Bridger - An entertainer originally from Ontario Canada. He's a one man act who sings and entertains using multiple costumes, hats and masks. Very good and very funny!
That's the recap of what's been happening here at Riverbend and the festivities that we've been involved in for January. On our days off, Roger and I have tried to do some sight seeing. On one of those excursions we drove to Sun City Center, which is east of Tampa, to visit Sue's parents who winter there.

On the next day we went for a little drive locally to show Terry the Caloosahatchee River. He had taken his sail boat along the river six years ago from Lake Okeechobee to the Gulf. In Fort Denaud, there is a swing bridge that just happen to be open when we approached.
